Balkan power in management to strengthen BSEC-URTA

The 37th Meeting of the BSEC-URTA General Assembly was held in Istanbul on 2 April 2021 in hybrid format with both physical and virtual participation of all its members.


Esteemed guests, IRU Secretary General Umberto De Pretto, BSEC Deputy Secretary General H.E. Traian Chebeleu strengthened the General Assembly with their participation in accordance with the tradition of BSEC-URTA partnership with IRU and BSEC.


The first lady president in the history of BSEC-URTA Mrs. Asli Calik handed on the Presidency of BSEC-URTA to Mr. Eduart Kasa, General Director of ANALTIR.


Mrs. Asli Calik, at the head of the Management Council represented by Deputy President Georgy Petarnechev, Vice Presidents Elena Medvedeva and Eduart Kasa, contributed to many of the Union's achievements during her presidency. A start has been made on the digitization of BSEC permits, BSEC permits quota have been significantly increased, considerable efforts have been made to call on the government to secure parking for trucks, and the BSEC-URTA commercial enterprise has been launched.


Mr. Eduart Kasa became the new President of the BSEC-URTA. Mr. Kasa noted that he feels joy and satisfaction with the position, at the same time he is aware of the responsibility he bears upon taking this post. The newly elected BSEC-URTA President stated that, together with the entire BSEC-URTA family, he is ready to challenge the difficult times the sector faces today.


Mr. Eduart Kasa elected Ms. Olivera Miovska, representative of AMERIT, as Deputy President with term of office as of 2 April 2021 - 31 December 2022. Ms. Olivera Miovska informed participants on her plans to bring fresh ideas to the organization and on her intention of hard work for the benefit of the BSEC-URTA family. Ms. Miovska thanked Mrs. Asli Calık for performing a role model for the sector as a president of the Union.


The new vice presidents elected to the BSEC-URTA Management Council are Ms. Nino Chkheidze, representative of GIRCA, and Mr. Fatih Sener, representative of UND, Their term of office is as 2 April 2021 – 31 December 2022.


The BSEC-URTA General Assembly thanked the IRU Secretary General, Mr. Umberto de Pretto, for the information provided on the impact of COVID19 pandemic on global and regional trade and transport and on the IRU call on governments for implementation of recovery measures.


General Assembly approved the Activity report of the BSEC-URTA priorities for 2020, Working program and Budget for 2021.


The meeting was also marked by another significant moment for the BSEC-URTA family. In accordance with the decision of the 37th General Assembly a new observer member attained to BSEC-URTA - the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA).


The next meeting of the BSEC-URTA General Assembly is decided to be held in Istanbul, Turkey.
