On 27th February 2025, BSEC-URTA participated in Special Meeting of the PABSEC Standing Committee.

The BSEC-URTA International Secretariat, consisting of Deputy Secretary General Alpdogan Kahraman and BSEC Experts Elif Nuhoglu and Sadiye Nuhoglu, participated in the special meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) standing committee on 27 February 2025 in Istanbul, dedicated to the 32nd Anniversary of the Assembly’s establishment.

Mr. Fatih Donmez, PABSEC Vice-President and Head of the PABSEC Turkish Delegation, chaired the meeting. Mr. Donmez, former Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, current parliament member, and head of Artificial Intelligence Research Commission in the Turkish Parliament.

In the meeting, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, informed the participants about the organization’s current and future work.

BSEC-URTA has also the floor to present the information on their activities.  

First, the BSEC-URTA Delegation expressed gratitude to the delegations for their comments on the importance underlined by the delegations on the BSEC Permits, which are continued to be produced in partnership between BSEC PERMIS, BSEC-URTA, and IRU. The delegation also reiterated its call to the missing strong logistic chains in the BSEC region, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, and Greece, to join and be part of the system.

The other issues raised by BSEC-URTA were the absence of a visa convention and limited staying time for international road transport drivers, especially in the Schengen Area, the driver shortage, where young drivers can not be attracted due to the difficult conditions, especially in the border crossing points, and the lack of digitalization and facilitation in the BSEC border crossing points.

BSEC-URTA International Secretariat congratulates PABSEC on its birthday and wish the organizations’ shared goal of peace and prosperity in the region to last forever.
