BSEC-URTA International Secretariat Participated BSEC Working Group on Transport on 26 March 2025

The BSEC Working Group on Transport held an online meeting on 26 March 2025, attended by experts from BSEC Member States, related bodies, observers, and various international organizations, including UNECE, ITF, IRU, IRF, OECD, TRACECA and BSEC-URTA.

Participants discussed recent developments in transport, government policies, road safety, advanced technologies, infrastructure development, and border-crossing facilitation in the BSEC region.

Deputy Secretary General Alpdogan Kahraman made a presentation, presenting border crossing challenges and proposing solutions, along with successful examples from border crossing points (BCPs). The outcome of the BSEC-URTA Digital Working Party was shared, emphasizing the need for modern customs tools and digitalization of transport documents with Artificial Intelligence.

Secretary General Mehmet Uylukcu also highlighted the necessity of including Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, and Greece in the BSEC Permit system, with Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Transport confirming their readiness to address this issue.
