BSEC-URTA Delegation Visits Director General Çağlar Tabak to Strengthen Regional Transport Cooperation

As part of its long-standing and constructive cooperation with the transport ministries of all BSEC Member States, a BSEC-URTA delegation, composed of Secretary General Mehmet Uylukçu, Deputy Secretary General Alpdoğan Kahraman, and BSEC Experts Elif Nuhoğlu and Şadiye Nuhoğlu, paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Çağlar Tabak, the newly appointed Director General of Transport Services Regulation at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye.

The meeting served as an opportunity to congratulate Dr. Tabak on his new appointment and to reaffirm the shared commitment to further strengthening the excellent cooperation between the Turkish Ministry and BSEC-URTA on a wide range of transport-related issues, including multilateral permit systems, border crossing facilitation, international road transport, and regional connectivity.

One of the key agenda items was one of BSEC-URTA’s flagship initiatives: expanding the practical use of the BSEC Permit System. The delegation underlined that enabling BSEC permits to be used for exports from Türkiye to Armenia would represent not only a significant facilitation for international road transport but also an important symbol of regional friendship, peace, dialogue, and economic cooperation within the Black Sea region.

The participants also exchanged views on several strategic issues affecting the future of international road transport. Discussions focused on launching joint projects to further enhance the image and recognition of the road transport profession and professional drivers, highlighting their indispensable contribution to global trade and supply chains.

The meeting also emphasized that artificial intelligence and digitalization are shaping a new era for the transport industry. Both sides expressed their willingness to continue close cooperation between the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye and BSEC-URTA in developing innovative digital solutions that will contribute to more efficient, sustainable, and integrated transport systems across the BSEC region.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the BSEC-URTA delegation conveyed its best wishes to Dr. Çağlar Tabak for every success in his new position and expressed its sincere appreciation for his warm welcome and hospitality.

BSEC-URTA remains committed to its founding mission: making the impossible possible by promoting friendship, connectivity, sustainable logistics, and shared prosperity throughout the Black Sea region.
