BSEC-URTA underlines the importance of Digitalization and smooth border Crossings for the welfare of the BSEC region

BSEC-URTA Secretary General Mehmet Uylukcu and Deputy Secretary General Alpdogan Kahraman participated in the online BSEC Working Group on Transport on 26 April 2023.
In the meeting’s agenda items of Border-Crossing Facilitation and the BSEC permit system, BSEC-URTA realized presentations on the ongoing efforts of BSEC-URTA with its members among the continuous support of the BSEC Permanent International Secretariat on facilitation and digitalization of transport and trade.
BSEC-URTA informed the participants of the meeting under the Border crossing facilitation agenda item about the current situation at the most congested border-crossing points (BCPs) between some BSEC Member States, as well as on the outcomes of the 39th and 40th Meetings of the BSEC-URTA General Assembly, held, respectively, in Istanbul on 27 May 2022, and in Thessaloniki on 6-7 October 2022, and the Meeting of the BSEC-URTA Working Party on Border Crossings held online on 21 March 2023. Mehmet Uylukcu gave significant importance to the visit of the BSEC-URTA Management Council to the “One Stop Shop” application currently in use in the Border Crossing Point between North Macedonia and Serbia and presented the hope of BSEC-URTA about the enlargement of similar facilitation tools in the BSEC region and between other BSEC countries.
BSEC-URTA contributed to the agenda item where BSEC countries discussed the BSEC Permit System. The outcomes of the BSEC-URTA Meetings, devoted to expanding the geographical coverage of the BSEC Permit System and digitalization of transport documents, held via video conference on 15 March and 6 April 2023, respectively, as well as on best practices in developing e-Permit were presented by the BSEC-URTA to the BSEC official representatives.
