64th Management Council Meeting of BSEC-URTA

The 64th Management Council Meeting of BSEC-URTA convened in Istanbul on October 24, 2024.

The council had the privilege of hosting distinguished guests, including H.E. Lazar Comanescu, the Ambassador of BSEC PERMIS, and Umberto De Pretto, the Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union (IRU).

During the meeting, the Management Council conducted a comprehensive review of developments in 2024 while also addressing the anticipated challenges facing the international road transport sector in 2025.

A primary agenda item was the discussion of the Schengen visa requirements, particularly the implementation of the Entry Exit System in the Schengen Area and the implications of various visa regulations that restrict the duration of stay for drivers. Such limitations pose significant challenges to the supply chains within the BSEC region and impede the professional autonomy of drivers.

In response to these challenges, the Management Council formulated strategic actions and established a roadmap to mitigate the barriers that drivers currently encounter effectively.
