TOBBUND Edirne Transit Facilitation Center Sets a New Benchmark for Border Efficiency in the BSEC Region

The last mission of BSEC-URTA was to observe TOBBUND Edirne Transit Facilitation Center by its site visit on 8th October 2025 in Kapikule.
BSEC-URTA Delegation expressed great admiration during their visit to the TOBBUND Transit Facilitation Center in Edirne, describing it as a milestone achievement for the road transport industry in Türkiye.
The Center, strategically located near the Kapıkule, Hamzabeyli, and Ipsala border gates, enables companies engaged in international road transport to complete their transit declaration procedures in just about one hour using TOBBUND’s facilities.
Thanks to this system, transporters can bypass internal customs and avoid Istanbul’s heavy traffic, proceeding directly to the Edirne Center, where all customs procedures are finalized in an average of 45 minutes. This innovation has reduced waiting times from nearly 15 hours to less than one, offering major savings in time and operational costs.
Delegates noted that this facilitation model should be replicated across the entire BSEC region, as it significantly enhances cross-border logistics, customs efficiency, and trade competitiveness.
Following the visit, the BSEC-URTA Management Council instructed the International Secretariat to highlight these best practices in all BSEC transport-related meetings, and to share information on the benefits of TOBBUND’s Trade Facilitation Center and the use of the AEO status through the organization’s official channels and social media platforms.
