BSEC-URTA and ESPORG United for Secure and Facilitated Truck Parks in Europe and Beyond

The General Manager of the European Secure Parking Organisation (ESPORG), Dirk Penasse, and Executive Secretary Roxana Ilie, met with BSEC-URTA Secretary General Mehmet Uylukcu and Deputy Secretary General Alpdogan Kahraman to discuss the growing need for secure, safe and well-facilitated truck parking facilities for the key contributors of foreign trade and international road transport: professional drivers.
The meeting focused on several areas of mutual interest between BSEC-URTA and ESPORG, notably the critical role of truck parks in international road transport, their positive impact on mitigating the driver shortage, and the importance of designing facilities that take gender-specific needs into account.
A key outcome of the meeting was the shared view that ESPORG’s mission should extend beyond Europe and reach the BSEC region, particularly along the Middle Corridor, which plays an increasingly strategic role in the European Union’s trade relations with Central Asian countries. In this context, the establishment of secure and certified truck parks along these corridors was underlined as a necessity rather than an option.
The delegations agreed to strengthen institutional cooperation and invited each other to participate in their respective upcoming events scheduled for March and May, aiming to further develop collaboration in areas where their mandates intersect.
