The Facilitator Tool of Road Transport in the BSEC region: BSEC Permit was presented to the missing links in the BSEC Logistics Chain

Upon the initiative of BSEC-URTA united with the traditionally strong support and cooperation of BSEC PERMIS, the countries’ Ministry of Transports and BSEC-URTA member international road transport associations which still didn’t join the BSEC Permit system namely Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, and Greece were invited to an online meeting on 15.03.2023.

In the online meeting, BSEC PERMIS Project Coordinator Mr. Sergii Kravchenko, responsible for BSEC permits and transport in the International Secretariat realized a comprehensive presentation on the establishment of the BSEC Permit system with the strong cooperation with BSEC PERMIS and BSEC-URTA in 2009, the gradual increase of its quota from 200 to 5.000 proving its usefulness for international road transporters, the possibility of designating its usage as quota and type as bilateral, transit or third country by the member countries.

In the meeting, participants also discussed the importance of BSEC permits which led to the first usage of digital road permits by Türkiye and Uzbekistan after the project of BSEC e-Permit, thanks to the initiative of Türkiye, which was supported by Moldova and Ukraine.

In the continuation of the meeting, participants discussed the connection of the BSEC logistics chain to the Middle Corridor by the participation of Azerbaijan in the BSEC permit system, the enhancement of the BSEC logistics chain by the participation of Bulgaria within the BSEC permit system, and the ways to present BSEC permit system to the Bulgarian haulers, and the entry of Greece in the BSEC permit system starting by transit.

As BSEC-URTA International Secretariat, we present our highest regards and gratitude to BSEC PERMIS, the representatives of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, BSEC-URTA Members; ABADA, AEBTRI, SMP, The Chamber of the Bulgarian Road Hauliers and OFAE for their participation in the online meeting and for their future efforts to unite BSEC logistics with the entry of their countries into the BSEC Permit system.
