BSEC-URTA participated in the Steering Committee of BSEC for facilitated road transport in the BSEC region

The Seventeenth Meeting of the Steering Committee on facilitating road transport of goods in the BSEC region was realized in BSEC Headquarters Istanbul on 8th November 2023.

The BSEC-URTA family is composed of Deputy President Olivera Miovska, Secretary General Alpdogan Kahraman, IRU Istanbul General Delegate Erman Ereke, and GIRCA Representative Lasha Kvirikashvili were in the meeting upon the kind invitation of BSEC PERMIS to contribute for a more facilitated road transport in the BSEC region.
First, BSEC-URTA Deputy Secretary General Alpdogan realized a presentation on Border-crossing problems in the BSEC area and shared the outcomes of BSEC-URTA Working Party on Border Crossing Problems in the BSEC region, realized site visits and observations of BSEC-URTA to the Sarp-Sarpi Border Crossing Point in Türkiye-Georgia, Batrovci and Sid Border Crossing Visits in Serbia and Alat Port visit. BSEC-URTA also presented its planned visits to the Serbian and Moldovan Border Crossing Visits in 2024 and, most importantly, requested the support and cooperation of the BSEC Ministry of Transports on overcoming the border crossing problems in the BSEC region. 

The other point that the Deputy Secretary General delivered was the necessity of e-visas for professional drivers and requested participating states and needed support from the Ministries.
IRU General Delegate Mr. Erman Ereke made presentations on behalf of IRU and presented the latest developments on how to develop the conditions to facilitate seamless border crossings and the Digitalization of transport, focusing on the latest developments in e-TIR and E-CMR.
Deputy President Mrs. Miovska, upon the kind invitation of BSEC PERMIS, contributed to the meeting as the reporter of the good examples in the BSEC area, the “One Stop Shop” application, which is a jointly operated border crossing by North Macedonian and Serbian authorities.
Mrs. Miovska presented the development of the One Stop Application and its benefits after its implementation to the countries’ logistics and welfare. The Deputy President invited other BSEC countries to examine this facilitation tool to be applied in other BSEC border crossing points.
Finally, Mr. Lasha Kvirikashvili presented the latest developments for logistics and customs regulations in Georgia and the activities of GIRCA on the digitalization of transport documents.
