Visit of BSEC-URTA International Secretariat to the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure

BSEC-URTA Secretary General Mehmet Uylukcu and Deputy Secretary General Alpdogan Kahraman on 18 January 2022 met representatives of Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure: Transportation Services Regulation General Manager Murat Bastor and Head of Department Hasan Boz.

Mr. Mehmet Uylukcu on behalf of BSEC hauliers presented his gratitude to the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure for the continuous increase in the number of BSEC permits which reached the quota of 3.000 pieces per country in 2022. It became possible thanks to the positive cooperation of the BSEC Ministries of Transport and for ongoing efforts on the digitalization of road permits.

In this perspective, General Manager Murat Bastor and BSEC-URTA Secretary General Mehmet Uylukcu discussed the ways of converting paper based traditional permits to digital and the steps to be taken on this direction.

On behalf of the BSEC-URTA, Secretary General Mehmet Uylukcu thanked the BSEC member countries for their strong will in the digitization of international road transport documents, highlighting the recent fruitful discussions on the application of e-CMR in the BSEC region.

Secretary General presented the full readiness of the BSEC-URTA for a complete digital road transport trial within BSEC-URTA by the appliance of BSEC digital permit and e-CMR.

General Manager Mr. Bastor shared with the BSEC-URTA secretariat the experience of the Turkish Ministry of Transport on the efforts of digitalization of road transport permits and the important notes on the first international road transport between Uzbekistan and Turkey with the electronic road permit.

Ministry of Transport of Turkey and BSEC-URTA agreed to continue their mutual work on the digitalization of the BSEC permit.
