The 42nd Meeting of the BSEC-URTA General Assembly was held in Baku on 27 October 2023.
The critical part of the BSEC region, Azerbaijan, takes an essential place in the Middle Corridor connecting Central Asia to Europe.
ABADA and Azerbaijan hosted the BSEC-URTA family and significant figures for international road transport.
The State Customs Committee, Deputy Chairman, Mr.Cavad Qasimov, the Secretary General of BSEC organization, HE Ambassador Lazar Comanescu, the Secretary General of PABSEC, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, the Secretary General of TRACECA, Mr. Asset Assavbayev, the president of IRU, Mr. Radu Dinescu, the Secretary General of IRU, Mr. Umberto de Pretto, the President of BSEC BC Mr. Selcuk Akat, the Project Coordinator of BSEC Organization, Mr. Sergii Kravchenko honored the BSEC-URTA 42nd General Assembly.
The BSEC-URTA General Assembly, in its 42nd Meeting;
Took note of the information provided by TRACECA on its activities for improvement of connectivity between Central Asia and Europe and appreciated the excellent cooperation and coordination of TRACECA with the BSEC Organization and IRU for the facilitation of border crossing at main BSEC land and maritime routes.
Took note of the information provided by Mr. Erman Ereke, General Delegate of IRU, on the work of IRU regarding the digitalization of transport documents, eTIR, and eCMR being on the front line.
Welcomed the Association of International Road Carriers of Turkmenistan (THADA) as Observer Status in the BSEC-URTA family, getting more robust with the important transit gate of Turkmenistan in Central Asia, which adopted serious facilitated and digitalization tools in the country and its borders.
Discussed the essential problems in international road transport, such as the border crossing problems in the BSEC region and posting applications for non-European Union drivers imposed by Poland.
